GROW offers Autism, ADHD and Cognitive assessments for children and adults
We offer autism assessments for children (2+) and adults. The process usually begins with a referral from a general practitioner, pediatrician, psychologist, or another healthcare professional who suspects autism. Parents are also able to refer their child. Adults can self-refer.
The comprehensive assessment involves observation of behaviour, communication skills, social interactions, and sensory processing abilities. This can involve questionnaires and interviews with parents, caregivers, and teachers to gather information about the child's/adolescent's behaviour and developmental history. For adults a thorough developmental history and standardised assessments are also used.
We use the following standardised tests and developmental assessments:
The Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition (MIGDAS-2),
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) and
The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).
These are gold-standard assessments and structured parent interview to determine a reliable diagnosis of Autism.
The assessment is based on the diagnostic criteria outlined in the DSM-5-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition Revised).
The results are discussed with the family and a full written report is provided.
