Autism & Cognitive assessments available
At GROW Clinical Psychology, we offer comprehensive Psychosocial Functional Capacity Assessments to help individuals, families, support coordinators, and funding bodies better understand a person’s current psychological, social, and functional abilities.
A Psychosocial Functional Capacity Assessment is a detailed assessment conducted by our psychologists to assess how a person’s mental health condition impacts their day-to-day functioning across different areas of life. This includes looking at how well they manage daily tasks, maintain relationships, engage in work or study, and participate in community activities.
These assessments are often required to inform applications or reviews for funding support, such as the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) or Disability Support Pension applications. They can help demonstrate whether a person’s mental health condition is likely to be permanent and how it affects their ability to function independently. They may also be useful for treatment planning or when transitioning between services.
Our experienced psychologists conduct these assessments over one or more sessions, using a combination of clinical interviews, standardised measures, and collateral information (such as reports from other professionals or carers). We take the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances and challenges.
Following the assessment, we provide a clear, comprehensive report that outlines:
The person’s mental health history and current presentation
Their strengths and areas of difficulty
How their condition affects their capacity to manage everyday life
Recommendations for supports, services, or adjustments that may assist them
A Psychosocial Functional Capacity Assessment can provide valuable insight into a person’s ability to:
Live independently and manage self-care
Communicate and interact socially
Make decisions and solve problems
Engage in work, study, or volunteering
Manage stress and adapt to change
This information can be used to support funding applications, guide therapy goals, and ensure that individuals receive the right level of support to improve their quality of life.
