GROW offers Autism, ADHD and Cognitive assessments for children and adults
We offer cognitive assessments to children and adults.
A cognitive assessment, also known as an IQ assessment, is a comprehensive evaluation of an individual's cognitive abilities, including memory, attention, problem-solving, language, and executive functions. It is conducted by trained professionals, such as psychologists and typically involves standardised tests and measures to assess various aspects of cognitive functioning.
Cognitive assessments are useful for several reasons. They can help identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well assist with the diagnosis of disorders such as learning disabilities, or intellectual disabilities or assist in the diagnosis of giftedness.
The following are more commonly used
Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence - Fourth Edition Australian and New Zealand Standardised Edition (WPPSI-IV A&NZ)
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V)
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV)
Results from cognitive assessments can inform treatment planning and intervention strategies. They help professionals develop tailored interventions to address specific cognitive difficulties and improve overall functioning.
Cognitive assessments can provide valuable information about a student's learning style, academic abilities, and areas of difficulty. This information can guide the development of individualised learning plans (IEPs) or accommodations to support the student's learning needs. It may support the NDIS application process, or Student's with Disabilities Application or Disability Support Pension applications. There are other reasons a cognitive assessment may be requested.
The assessment process involves an:
Initial interview with parent/individual (with developmental and behavioural history)
Psychometric testing with formal assessments (usually 120 minutes)
Feedback and Recommendation session, and
Written report
