Adult Psychiatry

Adult psychiatry is a branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders in adults. Psychiatrists who specialise in adult psychiatry are medical doctors trained to assess and manage a wide range of mental health conditions that commonly affect adults.

Adult psychiatrists assess individuals for mental health disorders through comprehensive evaluations, including interviews, observations, and sometimes psychological testing. 

Psychiatrists develop personalised treatment plans based on their assessment and diagnosis. This may include medication management, psychotherapy (talk therapy), or a combination of both. They collaborate with other healthcare providers, such as psychologists, social workers, and GPs to coordinate patient care.

She is also competent in providing psychiatric evaluations and interventions for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, such as suicidal ideation, psychosis, or severe agitation.
