Derya Ak is a passionate, empathetic, and respectful practitioner dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. With a deep commitment to supporting individuals on their journey toward improved mental health and well-being, Derya’s approach is rooted in authenticity, holistic practice, and empathy. She strives to truly understand each client’s unique story and aspirations, aiming to make a positive impact through her work in psychology. One of Derya’s unique strengths is her bilingual proficiency. She is fluent in both English and Turkish. 

As Psychologist and an Alcohol and Other Drug clinician, Derya has delivered comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of adolescents and adults dealing with alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues. Her collaborative efforts in case management and treatment planning have enhanced client support systems by coordinating with a network of healthcare professionals to ensure holistic recovery paths. Additionally, she has experience with Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders, PTSD/Trauma, Personality disorders, grief and loss, and attachment issues.   

Throughout her clinical practice, Derya has developed proficiency in various evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Harm Reduction and Minimization, Suicide Prevention and Suicide Risk Management.

Derya has a particular interest in working with trauma and substance use challenges. Dedicated to continuous professional development, she is highly motivated to attend seminars, workshops, and training to further support individuals effectively and meaningfully. Derya is committed to growing every day to touch people’s lives in the most effective and meaningful way, supporting them in finding their path and enjoying their journey through life.
